What we do
Middletown Prevention Coalition (MPC) is a community-based coalition whose mission is to create a safe, healthy, and drug-free Middletown (Rhode Island). MPC is composed of individuals representing various sectors of the community such as parents, youth, schools, faith, media, health, law enforcement, and town government who collaborate to reduce youth substance abuse, particularly underage drinking and marijuana use. Formerly called the Middletown Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force, MPC is funded by state and federal grants, and operates as a Town of Middletown committee. MPC pursues its mission by conducting media advocacy campaigns, working on policy development, and supporting law enforcement best practices to reduce youth substance abuse.



MPC currently has several major initiatives:

• Preventing underage drinking at house parties and other locations through education and partnership with local law enforcement

• Sponsoring Responsible Beverage Servers training for alcohol vendors

• Coordinating a youth subcommittee

• Facilitating an intervention program for young adult first-time violators

• Developing strategies to deal with the implications of the recently passed RI medical marijuana and marijuana decriminalization law and its impact on youth access

The target audience
The target audience is the entire community of Middletown, Rhode Island, especially parents and youth aged 13-18; the town’s population is 16,000. Located on Aquidneck Island, Middletown is known for its scenic beauty – including beaches along the Atlantic Ocean, wildlife refuges, and pastoral farmland dotted with mature trees and stone walls. Its economy includes tourism, the defense industry, agriculture, and retail.

We like these fonts, colors and style
We are interested primarily in a type treatment for MPC, i.e. a logo where MPC is the primary visual element. MPC could be wrapped in or somehow complemented by a visual element that conveys community as a nurturing factor for safe and healthy youth. A distinctive type treatment for MPC is desired so that all our collateral will begin to be recognized within the community.
