What we do
We are the youth ministry for First United Methodist Church of Hartselle. (Website:
[Login to view URL]) We are doing a "re-branding" of our ministry, thus the name change. We minister to students in a medium sized town with one large high school. So we see students from all over the community come through our doors. We have a weekly worship service, sunday school, small groups, missions, big events, and other outreach programs. Our purpose is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

The target audience
Students grades 7-12. Most church oriented, but some have not grown up in a church. Most are upper-middle class. Very sports oriented town, yet with strong arts dynamic. Medium level web usage, HIGH cell phone/social media usage.
We like these fonts, colors and style
We are interested in something like a pictorial mark or abstract mark. Something that will be recognizable without words. Might be interested in Letter form, but it would have to be a combo with the above. Would like something fun but simple. A little slightly more to the modern spectrum. Preferably two and no more than 3 colors (we may suggest specific colors after we see designs) Looks good on white background. Something that might also look good or easily translates to BW/One color. No frilly or script fonts please.

There are some good designs here, however we are going to open the contest back up. There are some elements that I like, however nothing has just jumped off the screen at us. Many would be great if we needed them for our adult congregation, but they are a little “industrial” for our group. We need something that will appeal to teenagers, something that is fresh and trendy. Something a bit more abstract, yet still expresses our core values. Each design should incorporate the use of a cross, as our students feel this is central to our experience. Also, please no people or representations of people. I know this is an easy go to when you are trying to express unity and mission minded, but it’s also easy for these to look too childish. I know this is not a easy assignment, but it’s important for us to have a great logo. Thanks to all who are participating in this.
