Things to communicate through the design
1. Professional
2. Modern
3. Resourceful

The target audience
The business community as a whole, from mom-and-pop shops to major corporations, universities and non-profits. We sometimes say that we are in the "business business".

We like these fonts, colors and style
THE CURRENT LOGO (seen here)

The current logo has design issues that should be avoided:

Drop-shadows & a busy globe design make the words hard to read, especially when printed at smaller sizes. The new logo should be very clean.

Outdated font design; thin, looks stretched, etc.

Overall, it does not suggest a modern business.

THE NEW LOGO

Keywords: Modern. Professional. Bold. Warm. Resourceful. Recognizable. Iconic.

Although the area has a bit of a Western/Rural vibe, please do NOT incorporate this in your design.

As Chambers of Commerce are a bit nebulous, concept-wise, it might be useful to imagine that you’re designing a logo for a university.

The logo MUST incorporate the following language; capitalization, etc. is up to you:

DAVIE-COOPER CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The logo CAN but does not have to include the tagline:

A WORLD OF RESOURCES

Ideally this language can be slotted in or out, depending on how the logo will be used.

The logo CAN but does not have to include:

EST. 1937 or ESTABLISHED 1937

You can use just the initials DCC as a main graphic element as long as the full name is incorporated elsewhere.

You do NOT need to use a globe, unless you can come up with a very clean way to do so.

Being South Florida, a great number of local Chambers use some combination of the sun, water & palm trees in their logos. A fresh approach would be appreciated, or at least an approach noticeably different from what others have done.

The logo should present well in both full color and monochrome.

The logo should be instantly recognizable AT ALL REASONABLE SIZES, from “logo on a brochure or t-shirt” to billboard, without having to read the text; think McDonald’s yellow M, IBM’s logo, etc.

We don’t want a clip-art style look.

The design is otherwise open to interpretation. Hit us with your best shot.

Our design will be used on
(Web)  (Print Media)  (Billboards & Signs)  (Television)  (Mugs & Tshirts)

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE:

We have posted a new file, "Chamber_SunLogo_test.pdf". It's fully editable in Illustrator, so download it to make changes. This is a logo we have developed internally that we like. HOWEVER, it has a few issues, and that's where you can step in.

1. KEEP THE SUN FLARES that we're using. We like them.

2. WE DON'T LIKE THE GLOBE. The color is OK, but the continents are blobby and, most importantly, FLORIDA is not clear. You can make it more abstract, keep it literal... "zoom in" so Florida is larger, etc. Here's your chance to step in and get creative. We are totally open! It's a bit too "clip art" at the moment... something more stylish is needed. Of course it needs to maintain (or suggest) the roundness of a globe.

3. The font is Avenir, which is fine. But we're open to other options.

AND PLEASE... we're not absolutely stuck on this design! If you have another, completely new idea, please share it. This is the general idea, though; something ICONIC, whether it's an image (as we've done) or lettering alone.
