What we do
We are a bricks and mortar store located in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia. The business has been selling new and used books, inlcuding fine, rare and antiquarian titles, for 25 years. We will soon be relocating and re-branding the shop and website - hence the need for a new logo.
Industry: Retail
Things to communicate through the design
1. quality
2. service
3. tradition
The target audience
The logo must appeal to the over 50s who visit the bricks and mortar store, but it must also appeal to the 25-50 age group who use the website. So it is really only the under 25s who will not be specifically targeted. The logo must be appealing to both sexes, local Southern Highlanders as well as weekend visitors from Sydney, and the well-educated in particular. Most customers are reasonably affluent impulse buyers.
We like these fonts, colors and style
We would like a logo that is easily readable, recognisable and has high visibility when used on shop signage. But at the same time it must not be garish.
Possible colour combinations (but will consider all):
- medium green and cream/white
- maroon and cream/white
- red and cream/white
- yellow and black
A couple of stylised 'bookmen' (men made from books or books that look like people) would be appropriate.
As for fonts: possibly sans serif and a 1920s style? But we will consider anything.
