What we do
We are a new company offering gunsmithing services...firearm repair, cleaning, accurizing, customization. We may offer retail gun sales in the future, but our primary business is service based. Most gun shops you walk into are hunter or militia themed, something we are trying to avoid because it can feel intimidating. We want our reception area to feel like a Montana ranch (not overly "cowboy" or "western", but classy... rich in leather and wood accents, but not "snooty".)
Our logo should fit well in that theme, though it's not a requirement or a preference that the logo itself feel rustic.

The target audience
Our target demographic is primarily male, some female, 30 - 65, middle income, ranging from blue collar to executive. Generally interested in hunting, target shooting, home defense. They are looking for someone they can trust with their guns, which are important to them. They range from extremely experienced to novice gun-owners.
We like these fonts, colors and style
The X in Marxman should stand out. Red and black are favorites, but we are open to ideas. The logo should look good on white (for signage and stationery) and black (for shirts and web) backgrounds.
The word Marxman should be easily read from a distance, and the words Precision Arms should be less dominant.
When we named the company, we chose the word MARXMAN as a play on MARKSMAN, which means "sharpshooter", but it's an overused word in the gun industry. We liked the different spelling in Marxman because the "X" has more creative potential in the logo, and it is centered in the word.
That said, our initial idea is to have the X stand out. Get creative and we'll give fast feedback to narrow it down!
