What we do
Helping blind Africans become Christian farmers
-We support villagers in Africa that are too far from medical care to receive sight restoring cataract treatment. It is expensive to host / feed a patient for the 6 week treatment, so we apply an Agriculture Training Program to teach the patients a skill that they can take on once sight is restored.
-Our patients can see after the first few days of the cataract treatment process. So they are only initially blind under our care.
-We are using agriculture to establish a self-sustaining medical program in Africa. Money donated to this program is considered seed money (money that is donated and made sustainable). I would be open to a clever tag like “We’re Planting The Seed” “Africans Planting the Seed” or similar/clever.
-Patients and their helpers (usually children assigned to lead) are not forced to learn Advanced Agriculture, it’s a choice to help themselves, learn a skill, and have something to be proud of.
It’s all about sending the patient back home with restored sight, knowledge of advanced agriculture techniques, and the gospel. (Body, Mind, and Spirit)
