The target audience
We have several audiences:
1) Federal Funding Agencies (Dept of Energy, EPA, etc)
2) Industry Sponsors (Cat, Cummins, Woodward, Rolls Royce, John Deere)
3) Partners (other universities and national labs)
4) Students
We like these fonts, colors and style
Our building is a restored power plant built in 1936, so we often try to stick to the art deco style of that period. Here is a link that has some great examples:

We're NOT looking for a logo for the institute - instead we are looking for 4 ICON's that will serve as the graphic identity for each of the labs inside our institute. The icons should be coordinated with each other so that you can tell that they are related. We may change the names of each lab or add additional labs in the future. The current labs are:
1) Engines & Energy Conversion Lab (focus on engines)
2) ABC2 Lab (focus on biofuels)
3) InteGrid Lab (focus on smart grid and power systems)
4) Industrial Assessment Center (focus on efficiency in industry)
