[Not for use in logo] Connecting communities to build a better Thailand
What we do
Mission Statement
ThailandServes envisions a Thailand where citizens, communities and the organizations that serve them are seamlessly connected in a network that amplifies individual contributions through collaboration to the benefit of all. ThailandServes uses the power of the internet, information technology, transparency and accountability to provide all Thais with easy access to information about the organizations and available services, with the ability to contact organizations for help, and with the ability to find opportunities to help their fellow citizens. ThailandServes is a nonreligious, nonpartisan, non-profit organization that believes in importance of sufficiency and community.

The Problem and the ThailandServes Solution
Thailand has thousands of nonprofits, community organizations, religious organizations, government agencies, international organizations and businesses all of which provide public services ranging from arts and culture programming to wheelchairs. Thailand also has a population of 65 million people who need or want all of these services but by and large have no way to find out who offers what where. There are a couple of print directories, which are out of date the minute they are published; there are a few internet links pages, but to use them a citizen must patiently follow every link until (s)he connects to an organization providing what (s)he actually needs where (s)he needs it. The result is a huge under provision of public services and a huge under consumption of needed and desired community services. The internet offers a simple means to create an efficient “marketplace” for the required information, a clearing house that permits service providers to announce themselves and service seekers to search for what they need.

ThailandServes is this clearing house.

This same problem confronts every country in the developing world. ThailandServes is a proof of concept for a generalizable solution to it. We hope that the logo that you design will also be one that can be used globally with merely a change of name – CambodiaServes, LaosServers, etc.

How We Solve the Problem
We are a single purpose website. We provide a comprehensive database of Thai nonprofits, community based organizations and government social welfare agencies, and the capacity to search it. Visitors can search for organizations by name, by type, by services provided, by clients served, by location in which specific services are provided, or by any combination of these. It also permits visitors to search for volunteer opportunities using the same filters and for places to donate using these filters or by searching for organizations in their area that need what they have.
Industry: Non-Profit

Things to communicate through the design
1. By connecting, individuals can express and exercise their citizenship, and help those in need.
2. Connected, sharing communities are stronger communities.
3. Each individual connection contributes to the growing, radiating, rippling out of the network and the connections it can make.

The target audience
Target audience for logo:
• All familiar with computers/internet and regular internet users
• Primarily in Thailand, with exception of international organizations and international nonprofits with operations in Thailand
• Age: Expect users to be younger, 45 and under
• Socio-economic status: middle and upper class Thai; foreigners
• Employment/membership: nongovernmental organizations (nonprofits), government offices with community or developmental missions, community organizations, religious organizations, foreign business with corporate social responsibility programs, fraternal organizations (Rotary, Lions)
• Individuals: those seeking services, to volunteer, to donate goods or services, establish corporate donation/service programs

We like these fonts, colors and style
Sans serif fonts that are web/screen friendly. Prefer an earth tones palette of browns, greens…, but not hung up about it. Like very clean, uncluttered design that reads easily large or small and is intuitively understood. Logo must work with both Thai and foreign audience, so internationally recognized images and graphics (mouse arrows, pond ripples) a plus. No typographical logos because of the Thai/English problem. (The ThailandServes name is from the URL, [Login to view URL] which by international convention is in Roman script.) Would prefer clear background that can be used on multiple backgrounds; want black on white and white on black versions. Please - would prefer not to see more of the tried and true circles of hands, leaping “figures,” little houses, and palm trees.
