Explore Ecology Logo Design Contest
Name On Logo: Explore Ecology
Our Slogan
Everything is Connected
What we do
For 20 years we have existed as Art From Scrap. We are changing our corporate name to Explore Ecology and keeping Art From Scrap as one of our programs, which will include our ReUse Store and our Community Art programs. (We will keep the Art From Scrap logo as a program logo – it is attached). In addition Explore Ecology will encompass our Green Schools environmental education program and our Watershed Resource Center program.
Under the unifying statement of "We Are Environmental Education" Explore Ecology delivers a variety of programs including Art From Scrap ReUse Store, Green Schools Environmental Education, Watershed Resource Center, and Community Arts. We provide hands-on opportunities for community members to Explore Reuse, Explore Creative Thinking, Explore Aquatic Systems, Explore the Choices You Make, Explore Environmental Cycles.
Explore Ecology addresses how individuals can effect positive environmental change, with a focus on teaching about the interconnectedness of environmental issues, promoting problem solving skills through exploration with Reuse materials, and facilitating individual actions through community service learning projects. What is unique about our environmental education program is that we are not just educating people about ecological systems and the fact that they fit into those systems - but that we are asking them to explore those systems. How do the systems work, how do their choices and actions help or hinder the natural systems, and what the results of human/natural interactions are.
The goal of our programs is to get people to explore, make choices, and take action. Our success is measured by how many people give their stuff to the Reuse store rather than sending it to landfill, how many people buy from the store instead of buying more new stuff, how many people clean up the beach to reduce negative impacts on aquatic systems, how many people use organic garden products rather than pesticides, etc. Our goal is for people to understand the entire ecological system and their part in it – and then for them to use their knowledge to act. This particularly empowers children to know that individuals can make a difference.
