The UNCCD (United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification) Scientific Conference is being held every two years, the first of which has been organized in 2010.


The Swiss non-profit foundation, Global Risk Forum GRF Davos (specialized on integrative risk management), has been given the mandate to organize the UNCCD 2nd Scientific Conference, thematically focused on the "Economic assessment of desertification, sustainable land management and resilience of arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas".


The UNCCD 2nd Scientific Conference is expected to produce sound scientific outputs and policy-oriented recommendations based on the analysis and compilation of peer reviewed and published literature that informs policy formulation and dialogue. These recommendations shall be submitted to the COP for its consideration.


The logo to be created should jointly represent (1) the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and in particular the Economics of DLDD, (2) the International Scientific Conference to be organized, which aims to unite participants from all over the world and (3) the conference organizer Global Risk Forum GRF Davos with its integrative risk management approach.
