What we do
We are one of the leading online Canadian video game magazines, offering video game reviews, previews, interviews, trailers, and other daily content. With more than ten years of archives, we've become one of the most trusted sources for reliable opinions on video games, and our game critics are industry recognized.

Things to communicate through the design
1. Professionalism
2. Passion for Video Games
3. Entertaining and Trustworthy
The target audience
Our audience first and foremost is gamers of all ages. Really, it's anyone who wants a reliable opinion on video games, be it a hardcore gamer looking for their latest first person shooter, or a parent looking for the best game to buy their kids.
In practice, our primary audience is male, aged 16-45. The majority of our audience is from North America with some college education.
We like these fonts, colors and style
Our current logo design is more then ten years old, we've had it since 2000. Over the next few months we're drastically overhauling our website design, and it's time for something completely fresh, and much more modern than what we have today.
The logo will mostly appear against a white background, but occasionally for certain materials it may go against black. Our site design uses a lot of blue, and we've used black and blue in the past for a logo design so it's a good bet, but we're always open to new and radical ideas!
I've included a design brief graphic which provides a look at some of our competitors logos, our current logo, and a preview of our new site design for which the logo will be placed. Also uploaded to

The logo will be used on the website, and on staff shirts for events and conventions, as well as on our business cards. Finally, depending on the logo, it will be used either in full or simplified form as an embedded graphic in the lower right of some of our video content.
We're a big fan of soft gradients, and simplified logos. Some of the biggest names in our industry use very simple but distinctive graphics. Since we prepare and tweak the logo for various themes throughout the year (awards, etc) a simpler design makes it much more flexible. While the primary use of the logo is on the web, we also do a fair bit on printing (t-shirts for staff, embriodery, awards, and business cards), so a CMYK version would also be great.
Please note, the slogan is optional. It will be included in certain uses of the logo, and discarded in others. Designers, please keep this in mind. Thanks and good luck!
