What we do
We provide ethics continuing education courses to licensed professional engineers. This is online education that trains engineers in the areas of ethical conduct, professional conduct and running a practice that is within the bounds of the rules and regulations set forth by state regulators and by moral and safety concerns. Engineers are bound to ethical practice and to the protection of the health, safety and welfare of the public. Our training courses reinforce that pledge of professionalism.
Industry: Education
Things to communicate through the design
1. Engineering - specifically licensed professional engineers
2. Ethics, ethical behavior, professionalism
3. The long-term nature of their commitment to ethical behavior
The target audience
Licensed professional engineers, generally an affluent and very detail oriented group of people. College educated with higher than average incomes and generally white collar work-experience with a flair for the more practical aspects of things. The industry skews male, but there is a growing number of females in the profession. This tends to be a group that perceives itself as time-pressured or "very busy" much of the time, and does not generally want to waste a lot of time on what they might consider "fluff."
We like these fonts, colors and style
This logo needs to reflect the professionalism of the target audience as well as the high quality of the services we provide to that audience. We want to be certain that we incorporate something that ties the logo to engineers. While the audience can be conservative, they are, in many cases design professionals as well. Therefore we can consider a range of designs from very conservative to quite modern as long as we maintain the quality and professionalism inherent to the profession.

Here are a few ideas that may help in working with images for this contest.
To depict engineering, perhaps use a hard hat, two men looking at a blueprint, gears, a compass (drawing, not for direction) or protractor, etc.
To depict ethics, perhaps scales of justice, statue The Thinker, handshake (maybe The Thinker with a construction cap and a blueprint??)
For the life-long aspect, a road off to infinty, an arrow swooping off to the side, etc.
It is not necessary to put all 3 facets in the logo.
