Chute Logo Design Contest
Name On Logo: Chute
Our Slogan
Ski and Outdoor Company
What we do
We are a small, innovative snow sports company who makes products for hard-core but design and style conscious outdoor athletes. While the casual weekend skier or snowboarder may use our products we are designing and building for the serious skier/rider. We want to standout from the garage startups but also not venture into the territory of the established mega brands such as K2, Black Diamond, Volkl, etc.

The name is based on a chute: a narrow, very steep, somewhat navigable swath that cuts down a mountain.
Industry: Sports & Recreation

Things to communicate through the design
1. Hard-Core
2. Steep
3. Outdoor

The target audience
14-40 year-old skiers and snowboarders who ski/ride 20+ days a year. These people pay attention to the way their ski graphics look and what color their helmet is etc.

We like these fonts, colors and style
We like heavier fonts, not really into serifs. Cool, dynamic, uncommon, and textured fonts are awesome; Color is welcomed but B & W is cool, too. We definitely would like a strong sense of the outdoors and mountains to come through in the logo. Not quite earthy per se, but definitely grounded in the idea of intense outdoor exploration.

A hint of Do It Yourself (DIY) would also work with our brand ID.

Who we don't want to be: blackdiamondequipment.com, arcteryx.com.

We definitely think a lot of Burton's branding is awesome; and Jeremy Jone's new snowboard company is pretty cool, too.

Our design will be used on
(Web)  (Print Media)  (Mugs & Tshirts)

Additional Info Added Mar 10, 2011
Please refrain from super literal takes on the "mountain" idea. There doesn't have to be a mountain range in the logo; unless it's abstract or symbolic. Too many outdoor companies already use mountains.

Think more about the notion of a chute: a steep and narrow passage way down a mountain. It's not ski tracks or squiggly lines.

Thanks as always for your help.
