Tour de Tumors Logo Design Contest
Name On Logo: Tour de Tumors
Our Slogan
A cancer warrior's humorous and heartfelt view of life’s realities and what is truly important.
What we do
The Tour de Tumors will be my personal blog. I am in the cancer battle again with a recurrence of brain tumors. The outlook is not exactly shiny. I am also an avid cyclist and have participated in several tours promoting advocacy and awareness of cancer and adoption. During these I journaled my honest view of things with self deprecating and sarcastic humor. I turned out to be very therapeutic for me and inspirational for others. This is something I need to do to get me through this battle and to help my fellow cancer warriors.
Industry: Education

Things to communicate through the design
1. Big Bald Head with goatee around mouth
2. I am a cancer warrior.
3. I love being on the bike (road). It is a part of who I am.

The target audience
cancer survivors, care givers, family, friends, my daughter for as she gets older, my wife to help her get through this, cyclists, my fellow members of Spokes of Hope, my fellow members of Cyclists Combating Cancer online group, Cancer Support Community, American Cancer Society, and anyone looking for motivation and inspiration.

We like these fonts, colors and style
#1 I am known for: Big Bald Head with Goatee around the mouth (dark hair). You can see a picture of my face and bald head at jeffreyrowe.com. I have brain tumors (left side of the head) so the idea of a ROAD BIKE riding over the bald head.

#2 The head with the bike can be a graphic that could stand alone or could be used as the letter O in either Tour or Tumor.

#3 The initials TdT are used on the subject line when I send Tour de Tumor emails. You are welcome to use TDT and/or the full name.

#4 These are ideas that have just popped into my damaged brain (tumor humor for your entertainment). Thank you all for submitting your creations. I am excited about this and amazed by all the talent.

Our design will be used on
(Web)  (Print Media)  (Mugs & Tshirts)

Additional Info Added Jan 18, 2011
1. Prefer a bike image closer to a real road bike (including stem and brake hoods on front of handle bars). An example of the road bike I ride can be found at:

2. Brain vs. Head: I would like to see one of these two images as a focal point to represent me. Being that I have brain tumors the BRAIN is a good option. It takes away the issue of trying to create an image that best represents me. Either one you choose, it should connect with/to the bike but still be the focus.

3. Either the Head or BRAIN should be the focus as compared to the bike. The blog is about promoting my thoughts and feelings in this battle with brain tumors. The bike is only a part of me rather than the only thing in my life. (example: bike riding over/near brain)

4. Although, incorporating the head or brain INTO the bike could be a creative option.

5. Head suggestion: Face is best done not so realistic. Mock image rather than the real thing. Facial hair as a goatee around mouth and chin. Emotions: Definitely not mean looking; happy is better.

6. Head suggestion: The back of the head is an option.

7. Brain suggestion: incorporating a brain into or as the letter O.

8. Design idea: something in the style as "Life is Good" shirts (but not a knock-ff

9. Slogan on the bottom is a great option. If incorporated it creates two ways of using the logo: one with and the other without. I could create graphics standards as to when to include it and wen not to.

10. Colors: various shades of blue, purple, red or yellow (I love yellow but do not want it to be in any way seen as knock off of Tour de France or LiveStrong)
