What we do
Established in 1994, Schooners is a destination oceanfront restaurant in Cayucos, California with outdoor dining and a lot of nautical-themed charm & character. As the new owners, we are updating Schooners with a new, clean look and would like to re-brand ourselves as a classier restaurant that serves great seafood, steaks & cocktails. Please disregard any past logos of ours.

The target audience
Due to our oceanfront location, outdoor dining, and casual atmosphere, Schooners appeals to a very broad demographic. We see all ages & incomes. We have a strong base of local customers, but we also draw in just as many people from outside the county, state & country.
We like these fonts, colors and style
Colors:
Our restaurant colors reflect the design of an old sailing vessel. Lots of rich woods, brass fixtures, some black & blue details with the blue of the sea & sky as our backdrop. We would like our logo to match this using Black, Blue & Brass/Gold.
Would also like Schooners’ logo to look good in just one color for retail.
Font:
Open to interpretation. Perhaps the font could mimic the curve of waves, sails, fish, etc. Old world nautical might be fun, too. I really like Captain’s Table font.
We do not want block.
Style:
Clean lines, not too busy.
We’re open to ideas & had a few of our own, too. We are leaning mostly towards a silhouette or detailed image of a Schooner. There’s a lot of logos out there like this already so we want to distinguish ours. Not too boring or generic. But it would match well with the theme, concept & title of Schooners.
Another ideas was to play on the word SCHOONERS to include an image. The ‘S’ could be a fish, wave, sail or a mermaid. Or the O’s could be port holes with a view of the horizon beyond.
Finally, we will have certain uses for the tag line, CAYUCOS CA, such as retail. But we don't need it for the main logo we'll be using on the web, menus, etc.
