What we do
A podcast and website that focuses on the cool modifications people like to do on their Ford Mustangs. We do interviews with people in the industry, spotlight products for adding speed, looks, or refreshing old parts on your ride, do in-depth how-to videos showing step by step how to make these modifications and do maintenance to your own car.

Things to communicate through the design
1. Having the coolest Mustang Around - ties back to Mustang Heritage and the people who have owned them and shared them for generations. Have to show our link to the brand while respecting trademark.
2. Independence / Can do Spirit / The logo needs to convey cool modifications / working on your Mustang
3. Boldness and Speed
The target audience
Hot Rod People, men and women anywhere from teens to 50's and 60's. Automotive Industry, but has to appeal to Internet savvy people. These people are generally (US) American car buyers, proud of their country, fiercely independent, very creative in expressing their own style through their ride. Incomes, Occupations, and Educations vary, they're united in this common interest in the car, making it look its best, and of course, go faster.
We like these fonts, colors and style
Style needs to somehow tie back to the Mustang, through fonts, graphics, or something you make up. I'd like to see some graphic tie to the horse, the red/white/blue tribar horse, the outline of design elements of the car... something that clearly identifies this logo as having to do with Mustangs.
Ties back to a garage, having a car on a lift, tools, or any other graphic imagery works.
Looking for something Bold, this logo will be used as the splash for a podcast opening, as well as for the website.

Very nice entries so far, keep them coming!
As of this writing, I consider submission #7 and #10 a very close race for first, perhaps even tied. Keep one thing in mind: Let's be careful about using the entire Mustang Horse - that's a Ford Trademark, and since they are a potential partner, I want to be respectful of that. Pulling bits and pieces of the logo would be preferable, like #7, #11, and #9 have done very nicely.
For reference, see these other contests for a logo that has to do with a major brand - in the first example, most of the submitters pulled elements from Apple's stuff so you could see the tie-in without taking the entire TM'ed logo:

Last thing:
In terms of format, I need the logo to be on a transparency so I can put over multiple backgrounds between web and video.
When this ends, please provide me with the original, vector graphic for use on products or in case I ever want to make a change to the text, and a high quality web-friendly version (PNG format / transparency) with a variable width.
