What we do
We are a hostel for international backpackers (think dorm rooms with bunk beds where travelers share the room). We are located in a historic building in downtown San Diego in an area called the Gaslamp. Our building was once a brothel and a children's home (orphanage). Now we host young people from all over the world who are coming to explore our city. They stay in hostels for the sense of community and meeting other like-minded travelers.
We would like our logo to either say Gaslamp Hostel San Diego OR San Diego's Gaslamp Hostel. Whichever works best in the design you create.

1. Clean
2. Historic feel, yet still appeals to a younger crowd (historic and hip)
3. Our location (would love to see an image of a gaslamp in the logo)
The target audience
Our target audience are travelers mostly in their 20s in 30s exploring the world. They travel with a backpack or sometimes regular luggage for weeks or months on end. They are adventurous, fun, tech-savvy consumers. Our guests come from all over the world.
We like these fonts, colors and style
We are open to color schemes, but we have been thinking about playing on our building's brothel past just for color inspiration. Maybe purple and teal? We're open to different colors and color combos. I threw together a very rough idea (see image) using some clip art (yikes) crudely pasted in, and obviously this is why we are holding this contest. Your idea doesn't need to even remotely resemble this-- this was just us playing around. I'm also attaching a picture of the inside of our building just for inspiration.
