Things to communicate through the design
1. Professionalism
2. Vintage - Timeless
3. Wilderness
The target audience
Our audience is in two industries. The Civil Engineering Industry and the Timber Industry. Our work is evenly split between the two. We work for both the Federal and state governments in the timber industry. In the Civil Engineering Industry, we work for federal, state, county and city governments and private industry clients. Our audience are entities not individuals.
We like these fonts, colors and style
Blue text and Black graphics
Algerian font italicized is what we currently use giving off a mountain vibe.
Our specialty is in both the Civil industry and the timber industry, both of which use roads for transportation routes. We have leaned toward a mountainous setting with a road route running through it, into it along a mountain flank etcetera. If an aspect of the logging industry were incorporated into the logo, that might well be a plus.
Our design will be used on

We don't want "gears" or mechanics tools in the logo. The sawblades in the various logos look good, but is not necessary. With some logos it works. If a circular sawblade is used, incorporate the cardinal directions of a compass with it to denote north south east or west.
I do like the axe in some of the logos especially when it is integrated into the image in some way or another where it is somewhat disguised even.
We do want to use the Algerian font when possible.
We do not want birds or other animals in the logo, it seems distracting.
You might try dropping the LLC in some of the names so that we can see how the look changes.
You could eliminate the surveyor with the transit from the logos and that might be better. We do survey, but typically mostly engineer, so a surveyor on the logo does not necessarily represent what we do. But it does look good.
