Monkeypod Jam Logo Design Contest
Name On Logo: Monkeypod Jam
Our Slogan
Artisanal jams created on Kauai
What we do
We create small batch tropical fruit jams, jellies, syrups and spreads utilizing Kauai's bountiful fruit. Our jams are highly seasonal and only created during their peak. Each batch is made in a traditional French copper pot with the largest batch producing no more than 25 8oz jars. Currently our products are sold at two of Kauai's farmers markets and the Kong Lung Store in Kilauea, Kauai. The Kong Lung Store is considered to be Kauai's finest boutique for gifts and household items. We are the first food item the store has ever carried so feel very honored to be invited. It is our goal to sell our jams in a handfull of Kauai's high-end shops and Boutique Resorts while continuing our on-line shop and weekly Farmers Markets. Our products have found themselves in a niche market that is being very well received by both locals and tourists. This is a product that will not be found on the supermarket or big box store's shelves. I am looking for a label that can be used at a farmers market but would look at home on a table at Kauai's St. Regis Resort.

Things to communicate through the design
1. Sophisticated
2. Simple
3. Quality

The target audience
My target audience loves the islands and wishes to take the essence of the islands home to share with those they love. They don't mind spending $8.00-$15.00 on one 8oz. jar of jam and often purchase 5 to 20 jars at one time (no kidding, this happens often). My customer stays at Kauai's luxury resorts... no timeshare. Most are proffessionals and have been to the islands numerous times. I have been surprised to find that many of my customers are middle aged men who just love jam. They love good food and are willing to pay for a quality, local products. Many of my products are made using organic produce which is a big draw for many of my customers. Most of those who purchase will sample, walk away for about ten minutes they return and buy 3+ jars. I've only been selling my jam since May, 2010. My jam looks very farmers market at the moment... canning jar, hand written jam type on the front and a colorful cloth cover on the lid. Very cute and well received just not the direction I want to take my jam. I am trying to purchase proper jars and create a cleaner, more sophisticated look. I do not want it to look tropical or islandy. I prefere black and white sketches or blockprint style drawings to cartoonish or computer generated looking illustrations. I like logos that look vintage or a bit retro.

We like these fonts, colors and style
Don't envision colors being used. Am thinking that a black or brown/gold print on white or beige background will be used on most of my jar labels. I like fonts that look handwritten but are easy to read. I do find that I am also drawn to fonts that look like type. Like I mentioned before I like vintage or retro looks, am not trendy. Want the logo to look clean and sophisticated. For illustrations I like ink sketches or blockprint. I enjoy the logos created by Lemon Bird Jam and Blue Chair Fruits. Lemon Bird doesn't us an illustration in their logo. I love their font and the way it looks on their jam labels. Blue Chair has a very fun retro look to it and has a litteral blue chair illustration. Like Blue Chair I might be open to seeing a literal interpretation in an illustration. Maybe a Monkeypod tree, part of one or even a monkey pod. This log will be used on letterhead, bussiness cards, signage, labels, etc.

Our design will be used on

If you would like to view the Monkeypod Jam product further please visit [Login to view URL] or visit etsy.com and search hawaiian tropical jam. Thank you for all your work! Aloha

Instead of using, "created on Kauai" I would like to use, "hand crafted on Kauai". Is it pssible to make changes to the ideas submitted.

It would be nice to see a few ideas that show a single monkeypod pod instead of an entire tree. A hand-drawn looking sketch or blockprint look might be nice.
