Be Change

As a charitable nonprofit organization, our goal is to bring opportunities for growth to students at donation based schools in rural Bihar, India. (Bihar is among the poorest states in India, with a per capita income averaging less than $2 USD a day.) We'll accomplish our goal by funding private schools to ensure students have what they need to succeed: a stable, quality education. Stability: For students, low income means that basic needs like school supplies, clothing and shoes are often unreliable, and their most consistent meal of the day may come from the schools we'll support. Our foundation will fund the purchase of school supplies and uniforms, as well as meal programs, so students can devote more of their time to education. Quality: In order for a child to have a strong opportunity to break out of the cycles of poverty, not only do they need a stable education, but they also need a high quality education. Our foundation will provide additional funding to employ more qualified educators, as well as to make improvements to existing school facilities ranging from providing individual desks, fresh coats of paint and covered roof areas to constructing toilets and additional classrooms.

General audience, with a focus on potential donors (including individuals and charitable foundations which will likely be based in the U.S.) as well as students, teachers and rural communities in Bihar, India.

Concepts we have brainstormed so far, but are not married to: Incorporating a Bodhi tree and/or leaf (the Bodhi tree is a pilgrimage site near the schools we'll work with in India), maybe with the tree growing out of a book Incorporating other objects of learning: e.g. pencil, desk, silhouette of a child Presenting the business name as abbreviated: "B.E. Change Foundation" or simply "Be Change"/"BE Change" Presenting the entire name, Bihar Educational Change Foundation, with the B, E and "Change" highlighted in some fashion to highlight "BE Change" Colors: For colors we could go in various directions. Earth Tones for the tree, with one color that "pops" or stands out OR Vibrant colors, as long as the logo stays clean, to emulate the vibrate culture and use of color within India. The colors of the Indian flag (white, green and orange) could be incorporated. Overall these are guidelines and we are open to other directions along these lines. We will have a clearer direction once we start receiving submissions.
