What we do
MARATA is a national, professional association for people who service and maintain saltwater aquariums in commercial and residential locations. All members are tested, certified, background-checked and insured. Hiring a MARATA member to service your aquarium is the best way to ensure that your aquarium is maintained by the most professional, safe and reliable technician available in the industry.

The target audience
All have an interest in marine life, especially the fish and corals of coral reef environments. Most are young men, between the ages of 20 and 40, middle to lower income brackets. Nearly all are self-employed freelancers who rely on reputation and word-of-mouth for business growth.
We like these fonts, colors and style
1. We need a logo that looks like an Official Seal, such as those used by US Federal agencies like the Department of State. 2. It should contain the full name of the organization (Marine and Reef Aquarium Technicians of America) and, perhaps underneath the seal, the acronym (MARATA).
3. A marine color scheme: azure blue, aquamarine green are suggestions. However, the logo should NOT be so colorful that it appears cartoon-like! It must appear very official, so the colors should not be overwhelming, distracting or childlike. Use of black with marine-color highlights would be fine.
4. This logo will be used on official Identity Cards. We would prefer it to have some finely drawn line component, to give the impression that it's been designed to be difficult to counterfeit. (The line designs around the perimeter of US currency is a good example, though we of course don't need anything that complex.)
5. Lastly, our members have two main focuses: reef fish and coral. Please see the uploaded images for reference. Not much detail is needed for these elements, just enough so that they're recognizable. As for how to incorporate the fish/coral image into the logo, it could be something very simple such as using a fish silhouette in place of the eagle in the US Dept. of State example.
