St. Louis Race Gear Logo Design Contest
Name On Logo: St. Louis Race Gear
Our Slogan
We take fun almost as seriously as we take safety...and we take safety very seriously.
What we do
We fill the need for a local try-it-on source for SFI certified auto racing safety apparel including auto racing helmets, shoes, gloves under garments, trackday shirts and related products such as motor oil, brake fluid, etc.

While that was our primary mission we have sold helmets etc. throughout the US. We stock Racequip and Traqgear Innovations auto racing safety apparel and also offer Simpson, Hans, Bell, Stilo safety apparel as well as Gulf Ethanol-Free Racing Fuel and Hoosier Road Racing Tires.

We in particular target HPDE participants, drag racers, drift racers and autocross participants.
Industry: Sports & Recreation

Things to communicate through the design
1. Fun
2. Excitement
3. Auto racing

The target audience
Everyone from amateur Junior Drag Racers to amateur drifters to amateur HPDE (High Performance Driving Event) participants. These run the gamut from 8 & 9 year old boys and girls doing the jr. drag racing to lawyers, doctors, business owners who are likely male, more affluent and want to try taking their Vipers, Porsches, Corvettes, Audis, etc. safely onto world class road racing courses throughout the USA including Road America, Road Atlanta, Barber Motorsports Park, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and The Circuit of the Americas. The equipment is the same as the pros use but the focus is on fun, excitement and learning how to do so in a safe manner on a safe venue. We want to take the intimidation factor out of drivers first trackday.

We like these fonts, colors and style
The Formula 1 logo is spectacular in several respects. Valvoline's logo is very good as well despite a ridiculous number of iterations. I'd prefer to stay away from the more cartoonish logos often seen in the racing sector. Competitors who are primarily on line (and we will likely have to get involved in that space to be viable) include SafeRacer, JEGS, Summit Racing. I like SafeRacer's the best followed by Summit, not a big fan of JEGS. The logo or a variation thereof needs to work both as a banner and as a logo on a shirt, i.e. both compact and long. The current banner style name we knocked out in red with a Word font can be seen on our facebook page (St. Louis Race Gear). I won't have a jpeg until tomorrow but I'm not sure how to send it after I close this. [Login to view URL]

As far as colors go, we're in the midwest so I guess red, white and blue is the winning combo.
