Name On Logo: Rutgers Environmental Stewards

The Rutgers Environmental Stewards Program educates the public about the science behind pressing environmental issues and helps participants create positive change in their communities. This is a state-wide volunteer program in New Jersey affiliated with Rutgers University. Our goal is to empower the Stewards to make a difference in their own communities through environmental action. Stewards start out by attending class once a week on topics including climate change, soil health, energy conservation, water resource protection, invasive species management, pollinator protection, habitat conservation, and environmental policy. Stewards also participate in field trips and complete an internship. The program itself does not engage in advocacy, but rather focuses on science-based education. The audience is adults who are civic and environmentally conscience, want to do community service, value continuing education, are self-starters, and want to take leadership roles in their communities on environmental issues. The program is open to everyone regardless of background, sex, age, etc. You don’t have to have a science background. The program itself does not engage in advocacy.

Have no preference on colors or fonts but we don’t want it too busy. We’d like something creative and artistic but not too busy. Nothing corporate or academic. No butterflies and no beakers. We’re not opposed to using the state outline in the logo but would like to see other options also. Designers CAN NOT use the Rutgers’ logo or the Rutgers’ “R”.
