The mission of the Precision Forestry Cooperative (PFC) is to develop advanced technologies to improve the quality and reliability of information needed for planning, implementation, and monitoring of natural resource management, to ensure sustainable forest management, and to increase the competitiveness of Washington's forest sector.

Things to communicate through the design
1. The Precision Forestry Coop develops and employs new technologies to improve forest & natural resources management
2. The dual focus of the Coop is remote sensing / geoinformatics and spatial optimization in support of the forest sector in the Pacific Northwest USA
3. The Coop tries to develop the best science and help forestry practitioners put that science on the ground
The target audience
Forestry and remote sensing scientists, operations researchers, forestry practitioners, students, the US Forest Service, US Geological Survey, the Washington Dept. of Natural Resources, conservation organizations such as the Nature Conservancy, and other agencies that deal with forest management and conservation problems.
