1. The excitment of fencing
2. Strength
3. Winning
The target audience
The company will offer a subscription based service that, depending on your level of membership, will allow you access to varying levels of content and one-on-one coaching services. (live and online) These are materials, strategies and coaches you would not normally have access to. The insights they can offer you will rapidly accelerate your development as a fencer (and an athlete) and give you the competitive edge you need.
The primary target audience is amateur fencers aged 14-21 (and their parents and coaches) . Athletes who love the sport and are willing to take the extra steps and put in the extra energy to make themselves better and to make the Olympic team or at least compete at a high level.
Secondary audiences include coaches and referees at every level of the sport. These folks can also benefit from the advanced courses and seminars offered by Fencer's Edge
LOGO LOOK AND FEEL
In terms of look and feel, we are looking for something modern, sophisticated, sleek, fast and not cliched. Mist reflect the upscale nature of the sport and yet have motion and action in it. Think about what Nike would do if this was one of their divisions. Or a company like Underarmour or Reebok. Or although they are not in the same sport category, look at

What we do not want are swooshy, cheesy mens room looking graphics of fencers. Or badly illustrated crossed swords. We would be open to something with a crest or shield, but it has to be original, modern and strong.
Again, the feeling we want here modern—nothing gothic, antique or midevil is appropriate.
Attached are some good examples of WHAT NOT TO DO.

Nothing that looks like star wars or may the force be with you! Nothing cartoony. Must be sleek, confident and sophisticated.

I would like to see some ideas based upon crests, but modernized. Attached is a jpg showing a couple of roughed out ideas and some additional inspiration along the lines of a retro crest type approach. Jeffs head could be part of these and obviously crossed swords or silos of fencers in extreme acton poses might be an element as well.
Client wants his name added. Jeff Bukantz' FENCERS EDGE
His name can be much smaller than fencers edge which is really the product name. His name is just like a brought to you by kind of thing...
Also might be worth doing aversion where his head is part of the logo as he kind of is the star coach. You can Google him to find his headshot.
