The target audience
There are two main audiences. 1) New Inventors 2) Invention professionals such as attorneys, engineers, prototypes, etc. (people who provide services to new inventors to help them develop and get their product to market.)
Inventors will use the site for free and need to feel a sense of trust and professionalism. Inventors are all ages and genders. Inventors are concerned about idea theft and want to feel protected and secure.
We like these fonts, colors and style
I want the design to have the feeling of high end corporate or law firm. Nothing gimmicky or fun. The logo should simply be the name written in clear, high quality style lettering. I think that it also needs one recognizable element like maybe the "o" in "Inventor" can be a wheel chiseled out of stone or maybe use a lightbulb somehow instead. Typical symbols for inventor are light bulbs, wheels chiseled from stone or gears and sprockets. Even this one quirky element has to remain within the high class theme.
For color, I am picturing a gold or white or navy depending on the design. No bright or fluorescent colors. More subdued, something found on a law firm. Style needs to be clean and very easy to read. Minimalist may be a good word to describe it.
