What we do
The Harrisburg Gay Men’s Chorus celebrates the LGBT experience in song and performance, fosters a greater appreciation of the male choral musical tradition, nurtures members in their artistic and personal growth, and enriches the region through entertainment and positive interaction.
Founded in 1987, the Harrisburg Gay Men's Chorus has a proud 29+ year history of performing at community events throughout the year, presenting annual Spring and Christmas concerts, and providing an enjoyable and positive social experience for both gay and straight male singers.
Industry: Entertainment
Things to communicate through the design
1. Music / male choral singing
2. Fun and entertaining
3. Community involvement
The target audience
Our membership ranges in age from college students to senior citizens and is diverse in every area of measurement. Our audience reach tends to be the 30+ age bracket (although we have many younger audience members), comprised equally of both LGBT and straight orientation.
Another major target for the logo is the business community. We would like to increase the profile of our organization in the business community, both for audience development and as a potential funding source.
The logo should in some way evoke the substantial, long term presence of the organization in the LGBT community.
We like these fonts, colors and style
We need a clean, unique and easily recognizable design that brings to mind both a male chorus and dedication to the LGBT community.
The preference is to NOT include a treble and/or bass clef in the design.
We're not looking for rainbows, rainbow colors or gay-centered themes.
The logo needs to work equally well in color and gray-scale.
The logo needs to be simplistic enough to be used in embroidered apparel (polo shirts. ball caps, etc).
It should be scaleable so that it looks good on a large banner or poster, or in a 1/4 page or smaller (business card) setting.
While freshness is welcome, the design should not be one that ages poorly, and begins to look dated in just a couple of years.
In short, we are looking for a design that expresses the tradition, stability over the long term, and professionalism of the organization.
