What we do
We want to start some sort of Wikipedia-like internet community, aimed at coming up with ideas to help people suffering from poverty in development countries / slums to earn their own living. By bringing work, and sharing profit. We're very much in the starting phase, but for a glance at the site (currently only in Dutch) you might take a look at [Login to view URL]
Industry: Non-Profit

Things to communicate through the design
1. That we're about bringing work (and the happiness that comes with it)
2. making a change
3. professionalism

The target audience
1. the smart people in this world who might contribute ideas on how to best bring work to people

2. the poor people themselves; It would be nice if the logo is understandable for these guys so they too can quickly understand the idea, usefullness and sincerity of the project

We like these fonts, colors and style
the ideal design reveils the intention of bringing work. My uploaded sketch, however childish and ugly, does seem to deliver a good part of that message. (It resembles a guy hanging below a tree all day, and all that being changed by our project into a happy worker with a hammer in the hand). But maybe it's too much to ask to implement this kind of 'story' into a logo. Im not too sure. If a logo that tells a story is impossible then at least touch of African/South American or Asian vibe might be nice. For example a touch of brown in the logo. Rather more than less detail. Maybe the letters BWSP made in wood, just like the slum-houses. Or something like that. Best would be if the idea of a change could be seen in the logo.

Or, a totally differtent approach, is to show the intention in an abstract logo. For example, the word 'poverty' being squashed by the letters BWSP.

As you see, I am not that sure what would be best. I hope this good cause might have inspired you, and if so, please submit your idea(s)! Unfortunately I could not spend any more than $ 300.... Thanks!

I know this Irish51 logo (#52) seems pretty unbeatable. #19 by Parkje is a serious contender too. Because these are one of the few abstract logo's that were submitted, I decided to hang in there for another few days, and managed to raise the prize to 450. I hope this will give me some more options.. So if you feel you're up to the challenge, please give it a shot at another abstract logo. Thanks!
