The Urban Farm Fertilizer Co. Logo Design Contest
Name On Logo: The Urban Farm Fertilizer Co.
Our Slogan
Humble, Texas
What we do
We manufacture a line of premium, all-natural vegetable nutrient for gardeners. We are coming out with the 2nd generation labels and need to incorporate logo/brand identity that will be around 20 years from now.
Industry: Home & Garden

Things to communicate through the design
1. Identity
2. Homey/earthy/quirky
3. Quality, with a little swagger (this is Texas, after all)

The target audience
Our customers are alternative, picky, niche-market, gourmet vegetable gardeners, many of whom use our fertilizers in our proprietary Urban Farm vegetable growing systems. All demographics, from rednecks to vegans. They believe they are using the best kept secret in plant nutrition.....and they are.

You might call us the microbrew of fertilizers. The anti-MiracleGro. Urban Farm Fertilizers are popular in college towns and farmers' markets. We want them to be the alternative brand for vegetable gardeners.

We like these fonts, colors and style
This is simple. We are attracted to the style of 20HuntStudios. In particular, Stuck Truck, Pixel Plantation, and Thistleberry Farm. We believe these examples give strong clues as to what we're trying to achieve.

We like microbrew, hot sauce, and salsa labels.

We're looking for inherent style first. Ultimate theme and content can be tweaked later.

This logo will be integrated into the larger total re-design of the labels, which could mean a greater role in the future for the winning designer.

"The Urban Farm" and "Fertilizer Co." could be separated vertically. Optional.

One of the tags on the label is "Braggin' Rights Quality", hence the swagger. (but this tag isn't in the logo)

Don't want to upload images for fear of polluting the artists' creative juices.

Our design will be used on
(Web)  (Print Media)  (Television)  (Mugs & Tshirts)

One variation we'd like to see is with the technique using wavy flag/ribbon/banner ends. This is used alot and does lend a sense of quality.

It's late, but we'd like to see a take on this style?

Just the top part with the name and furling ribbon. We think there is a logo here in this style. Very classy.
