Hawaii Kettlebell Logo Design Contest
Name On Logo: Hawaii Kettlebell
Our Slogan
No Slogan
What we do
We are an exercise studio that offers fitness training in small groups, bootcamps, and in 1 on 1 settings utilizing kettlebells as our primary training tool. We also use gymnastics rings, hurdles, sandbags, and many other tools that most people would consider unconventional.
Industry: Sports & Recreation

Things to communicate through the design
1. Strong, powerful
2. Serious about reaching our goals
3. Exciting

The target audience
Primarily busy middle class to affluent Female(60%)/Male(40%), 25-45 years of age with goals of looking better, feeling better, and performing better. These people don't usually have a a lot of extra time and they need a fast, effective, fun workout that delivers results yesterday.

We train primarily Mom's/Dad's/doctor's/lawyer's/business type people, but we also train Olympic athletes, pro MMA fighters, and even a Miss Teen USA pageant contestant.

We like these fonts, colors and style
We want the words Hawaii Kettlebell somehow incorporated with a drawing/picture of an overhead kettlebell lockout.

We hope that the logo will look good in color as well as black & white.

A "normal" style kettlebell usually looks similar to this: [Login to view URL]

A competition kettlebell looks like this: [Login to view URL]

We're not totally set in stone on one type over the other.

This is what an overhead kettlebell lockout looks like:

In this picture the fingers are folded behind the handle. We like that you can see the handle of the kettlebell in this picture; the kettlebell is easily recognized. We also really like the angle of this picture. We DO NOT like the yellow color in the picture and as of this update DO NOT want to see any yellow (or pink/purple, for sure) in this logo. The lighting in the picture sucks, and it is a picture of a picture, but I hope you get the idea.

There are two other common grips in this lockout position. In some lockouts, the fingers are wrapped around the handle of the kb, and in some cases the hand is completely open (like the picture of the double jerk that is posted in the comments section at the bottom).

This sort of fitness training could be considered more "underground", and "hardcore" than pumping out reps on a nice, fancy machine at a big box gym.

I'll try and paint you a picture of the sort of stuff we do and hopefully that will give you some idea as to what we are looking for...

Imagine swinging a heavy cast iron cannonball with a handle on it above your head, jumping over 5 consecutive 40" hurdles like a superball, flipping a huge 300-500lb tractor tire, blasting the tractor tire repeatedly with a 15lbs sledgehammer, creating rapid, undulating waves with one side of a 50 ft rope in each of your hands. This the sort of stuff we do. And some fancy scientific testing too.

Our design will be used on
(Web)  (Print Media)  (Billboards & Signs)  (Television)  (Mugs & Tshirts)

Additional Info Added Jun 16, 2010
It's getting closer to the end of the contest, and I'm a bit concerned as I have not yet found a suitable logo.

I was really hoping that I would see a few different logo concepts that would spark my interest and then be able to choose what direction I was gonna go. My initial description apparently did not properly convey what I was looking for in this logo, and the first batch of logo concepts were very far off from what I had envisioned.

Not trying to insult anyone--just being honest.

Anyway, since I have not yet seen a logo that suits my purpose/tastes, I will provide more specific guidelines:

I want the words Hawaii Kettlebell somehow incorporated with a drawing/picture of an overhead kettlebell lockout.

At this point, I don't want to confuse anyone so if I'd have to choose now, I'd prefer a drawing like the picture I provided in this post (with the handle exposed and fingers folded behind.

It is my hope that the logo will look good in color as well as black & white.

Once again, I would like the words Hawaii Kettlebell with a drawing that looks like the picture of an overhead kettlebell lockout as I have provided for you above.

Thank you, and Aloha!

*****I have just figured out that I can change the original guidelines of the contest. I will come back and do this after work today. *****
