What we do
Ken is a manager of corporate training, particularly in employee benefits processing, and of quality improvement projects that require statistics and analytical thinking. Yet, Ken is also a writer in a variety of formats (speeches, blogs, tweets, books, novels, screenplays) who is looking to expand into freelancing. He describes this balancing act as that of a "creative nerd."
Industry: Entertainment

Things to communicate through the design
1. Unique
2. Nerdy yet creative
3. Clean, modern dependablility

The target audience
Anyone looking for a writer or for something interesting to read. My network of contacts include individuals in DC, Hollywood, and Florida, and would look to expand my visibility there.

We like these fonts, colors and style
I uploaded my current logo - which I came up with a long time ago in a quick Photoshop effort. It was green and with the checkmark and button look it had a sufficiently subtle nod to my original goal of getting into politics. I want to modernize and rebrand based on my evolved goal of being a "creative nerd" - one that can successfully bridge the number-crunching and artistic worlds, whether it be in politics, Hollywood, or corporate America.

Sleek modern lines - no cutesy clip art or gaudy showmanship for me. I want to be noticed, but I want my work to stand out just as my logo.

As you can see from the old design, I like the color green, especially the darker hues like forest green, but I am also increasingly liking certain shades of blue - steel blue, slate blue, or gunmetal blue, but not sky blue, for example - and wouldn't say no to colors in between like blue green. Have fun with those colors.

The top of my current website (www.kenkerns.com) is darker than I'd like, and will probably be switching to a white background, but a logo that could work against either background would be ideal, if possible.

Our design will be used on

I should add that I've used the phrase "Ken is Speaking" in connection with my blog/website.

I am also on Twitter (@kenkerns), in case you wanted to exchange contacts or get more of an idea of what I'm all about.
