Videogame Fanzines: the pre-internet social media
What we do
Before the internet defined how we communicate our thoughts and ideas, videogame aficionados used fanzines - fan-based, homebrew magazines - to gather their local friends to report trends, review games, and predict the future. These fanzines were then sent out to other groups or fanzine editors. A paper-based social media network was formed. It was a brief but brilliant era in the electronic games media world.
Industry: Technology

Things to communicate through the design
1. paper-based media
2. videogame experts
3. social media

The target audience
This era had a pretty clear start and end, from 1991-1996. Most editors, writers, and readers were males between 19-25. Everyone involved were videogame fans, usually amateurs working their way up toward a pro role in either videogame journalism, PR, or even design. The people involved were "go-getters" in that they had invented their own way to share ideas before there was an easy way to do it. Fanzines were distributed entirely via snail mail.

We like these fonts, colors and style
We're very open-ended here, but it's very important to keep it simple and make it clear that we are archiving paper-based, amateur newsletter-style documents. Two places this logo will be used right away: on the website and as watermarks on the fanzine scans themselves. It's important that the logo is bold and simple enough to watermark.

Additional Info Added Apr 7, 2015
The focus of the logo should almost be more about the paper product we're archiving than the videogame hobby itself. In some way there should be a book, magazine or newsletter represented in the logo. If you can merge that with videogaming in some way, great!
