What we do
We set up teams and provide leadership and logistical support of teams of volunteers who serve victims of natural disaster or "personal" disaster. Mostly we help rebuild homes. We are a faith based Christian organization and want to be able help people with tangible, material needs.
Industry: Non-Profit
Things to communicate through the design
1. What we do helps the world be a better place
2. We have fun
3. We are good at what we do
The target audience
Adults 18-118. Men and women who care about social justice. We get a lot of retired people, but I want to appeal to younger crowds, too. People who go to church at least every now and then, Probably middle and upper class people.
We like these fonts, colors and style
Simple but telling as much of our story as we can. "Be The Tool" is funny. (get it? are you a tool?) Trying to combine that funny element with a meaningful purpose. Funny can still be professional. Not too complex, but if you want to use more then one or two colors, give it a whirl. In fact, I would prefer to have some color. Contemporary. I don't necessarily need a house in the logo. Be the Tool is inviting people to come join us in serving people. Even though we are a Christian organization, I don't need to see a cross in the logo. (Prefer not to unless it's really well done - symbolically, abstractish) I DO like the ichthus symbol, but not gratuitously. This contest is being extended because while I felt there were a lot of good ideas, nothing quite grabbed it. The first time around, I mentioned that I liked blue and orange, but please forget I said that. I would like to entertain more ideas. And a million times thank you for your work!

Even though we are a Christian organization, I'm not a huge fan of using a cross because it usually comes across more aggressively than I think is a good idea.
Maybe something more abstract?
I REALLY like the winner of this one:
