Ella's Logo Design Contest
Name On Logo: Ella's
Our Slogan
Good to Go
What we do
We are a retail food take away in a tourist town, located in a tiny cottage in the downtown area. We will sell quality foods - baguette sandwiches, NY bagels, green salads, grain salads, fresh fruit salads and real fruit smoothies. We have a cozy enclosed patio for evening desserts. We play jazz and world music.
Industry: Restaurant

Things to communicate through the design
1. tasteful simplicity
2. friendliness
3. NOT an exclusive overpriced cafe

The target audience
Tourists and young to middle age locals who have an appreciation for simple, quality food at affordable prices.

We like these fonts, colors and style
We like simple clean lettering. (We were originally considering font: Catholic Girls from Sholtz Fonts.) We would prefer to have warm colors. Not green - we don't want to look like a "natural foods" cafe.
We do not want to give the feeling of exclusivity, high price, or gourmet. We would like a simple clean logo that is neither whimsical or high brow.

The building is a tiny Victorian cottage from the 1800s squeezed in among huge bed and breakfast houses. A pre-renovation photo can be seen at: [Login to view URL]
We want to convey that this is a cozy, friendly and active little store where you can buy high quality food, get it instantly (ready-to-go), and not pay a high price for it.

Our design will be used on
(Web)  (Print Media)  (Billboards & Signs)  (Mugs & Tshirts)

Additional Info Added May 20, 2010
Logo must look great on the big front window as building is partially hidden by parked cars throughout the season.
We are in a Victorian Seaside town, but do not want a Victorian look as it was worn out here in the '80s.
5/11 - I stand corrected by one designer who pointed out that green does not necessarily imply a natural food store. I see this point.

5/18 We really like the drawn bowl (bread) of #129 as well the drawn oval on #230 ... maybe thats what we are missing -- a drawn element.
5/20 We like ligatures in the name. We are looking for a font that feels hand drawn. We do not necessarily want the logo in an oval. THe current top 3 capture the mood we like.
