What we do
This is an art publishing business. Stanislav Bogdan is my very special artist in Russia. I decided I wanted to create a new category of Philadelphia art back in 2001. I spent more than a year searching for the right artist to work with. I chose this guy. After 7+ years he's still painting magnificent big oils for me of city scenes in Philadelphia. (I shoot the photos and send them to Russia.) He's working on painting #52.
Initially I offered canvas reproductions of the paintings through as many as a dozen galleries here. I learned that expensive Philadelphia art is a tough sell. Eventually I stopped dealing with the galleries and basically became a collector. I knew in the end the project would pay off. Now I'm looking to move forward with a different way to sell these fine art reproductions.
I need a new image.

The target audience
A little more about my artist... He was born in 1949 in a Stalin labor camp in Kazakhstan. His mother was Russian, but his father was German, and Germans were persecuted during the Stalin times. So they were forcibly moved from their home in European Russia and sent to this place. Stanislav contracted polio at 18 months of age. He went on to live in an orphanage. A high school art teacher helped him to bloom as an artist. He went on to graduate from a Moscow fine arts university through correspondence. He spent part of his career creating soviet propaganda art and illustrating science fiction novels. After the fall of the Soviet Union, he became a full-time independent artist.
When I discovered him, I assumed that he had plateaued as an artist, because of his age and years of experience. But over the past 7 years I have observed that he has continued to grow and evolve as an artist. He is truly something special.
My buyers of this art fall into two categories:
1. Affluent homeowners
2. Those with commercial spaces: office buildings, hotels.
All of the art is of Philadelphia city scenes. Philadelphia is a large city on the east coast of the United States between New York City and Washington DC. It was the first capital of this country.
We like these fonts, colors and style
I'm a big believer in encouraging artistic freedom with logo development. But I do have some ideas that might help.
1. The first vision that comes to me is a logo with a side view of the artist's head using as few strokes or lines as possible. Next to it I see a font that conveys "this is something with class."
I met this artist once in early 2004 and he allowed me to shoot some photos of him. I posted these photos at

(Sorry, they aren't the greatest shots.)
2. Another logo idea might use an artist's paintbrush.
3. Another logo idea could include the artist's unusual symbol. (It's on the website.)
4. The fourth idea could use an image of the Philadelphia skyline.
The first idea I think I would like the most. Of course, I'm open to other ideas too.

One of the designers came up with the idea of making his logo design loyal to Philadelphia. Though I really like the direction everyone else has gone so far, conceptually, the "loyal to Philadelphia" idea makes sense to me, since all the art I will be selling for this particular artist involves Philadelphia art. He has spent more than 7 years painting Philadelphia art.
So if you have a design idea that connects the artist to Philadelphia, I would be curious to see it.
