What We Do
I am a "General Contractor" and I own a small (but growing) construction company in San Antonio, Texas focused mostly on Residential work. Generally speaking, my team and I perform almost every aspect of construction from changing light bulbs to building custom homes, and everything in between. We take pride in being thorough, detail oriented and client focused. There are a million residential re-modelers in town and I am better than 95% of them. My quality is better, my relentless dedication to making my clients happy is better AND my pricing is better. The primary thing that sets me and my company and our work apart is my "eye for design". Most every client I have says that I am creative, and my understanding and talent for "design" is what makes me better than other contractors. I am on the verge of taking my company to the next level - More craftsman, more and larger projects, Marketing (thus far I have been 100% word of mouth), etc. and I need a new logo design and company "image" to move with me to the next phase.
Industry: Construction

Things to Communicate Through Our Design
1. Design Matters
2. I am different (better, smarter, cooler, and hipper) than all the other general contractors/re-modelers. (Sorry, I know this makes me sound really conceited. . .but it is my business)
3. I get CONTEMPORARY and MODERN.

Target Audience
Homeowners between 25 - 60 years of age. They are looking to remodel their house or to update a house they just purchased. They are smart, educated and value driven BUT most importantly: They REALLY care about design. They read home design magazines (e.g.; Architectural Digest, etc.). The spend hours on HOUZZ.com, etc. and they want a contractor that "get's it".

We Like These Designs (fonts, colors, style)
I do have several style and design points that I like, but I am not married to any of them and would readily kick them to the curb for the right logo. That said:
1. It MUST BE Contemporary and Modern in theme (this isn't cold, stark white on white but a softer, cooler modern - clean, simple, straight lines)
2. Colors: At the moment I like a citrusy burnt orange with a dark grey wool color. I also like a bright citrus apple green. Actual logo does not need to have all three or even 1 of those colors...just a starting point. (Also I like simple black and white - See #1)
3. Overall Shape: At the moment, I am sorta partial to something that is rectangular in shape...like a long stretched out rectangle. (e.g.; The long side would be 4 or 5 times the length of the height).

Our Design Will Be Used On
Web,  Print Media,  Billboards & Signs,  Mugs & Tshirts

Additional Info Added Aug 28, 2014
Still happy with all entries so far but am still quite willing to change my mind and go in a completely different direction for the right logo/color/font/etc.

Also, I am also wanting the logo to be clearly visible when displayed, for example, on a ball cap. Also, the logo will also be used on yard signs and should also be visible to people driving by in their cars... without pulling over to use binoculars to read the company name. In other words.... The font size can not be too small is I guess what I'm leading up to.

I have "un-ranked" all our top choices because I am not yet sure who will ultimately win. Also, I'm asking friends and family to rank their favorites and I don't want to bias their opinion by indicating my favorites.

SO..... 8 hours left - still plenty of time for a new entry to steal the show.

Right now... the color that is in entry #29 is my favorite Orange. I'm wondering if there is a green equivalent of that orange.

So . . . here is some general feedback about some of the designs:

1. While this is not an absolute rule... I think the winning design will not include an image of a house (e.g.; a roof-line over the name. or the shape of a house with the name inside.). Generally speaking, I just think that there are a lot of construction type logos with a "house" motif, and I am really trying to appear to be different from most construction companies.

2. Having a business name with "Construction" in the name means that most people will already know it's a company doing construction so having "construction" or "house" imagery may not be as important.

3. Thus far, I still feel drawn to the designs that are long flat rectangular in shape... rather than a more standard "square" shape. This logo will be used on business cards, T-shirts and the sides of my trucks... in fact... I think it will look awesome to have the a large logo in a rectangular shape that would be placed on the tailgates of my trucks (the tailgate itself being a rectangle). I envision the t-shirts having the logo span the whole front (and back) of the t-shirt - from side to side (as opposed to a standard small square shaped logo on one side of the chest or another). I hope I am making sense here.. and as always... I am open to other shapes, so this isn't a firm rule by any means.
