Safe Citizens Day Logo Design Contest
Name On Logo: Safe Citizens Day
Our Slogan
Strength from Tragedy
What we do
As we approach another anniversary of those tragic events that occurred on September 11, the NJ emergency physicians have established a new initiative to honor the memory of those we lost. What can we do to perhaps gain something positive and enduring?
Why not find a way to make each one of us safer, more resilient?

Let us make 9/11 a date we recall that serves as an inspiration for us to be as ready and resilient as we can be.

On that date this year, and in future years let us commit ourselves to being better citizens by teaching or learning the things that will potentially help us our families, our friends and our neighbors survive the time of unexpected challenges.

By choosing this day to teach and learn CPR, By using this day to teach or learn first aid, Do you know where the fire extinguishers are in your place of work, or school or place of worship? Do you know how to use them? Do you have a smoke detector in your house, a carbon monoxide detector? Do you have a “go pack” for household emergencies? Do you have a functional flashlight in your house? Do you have a battery operated radio? Get one, remind those that you know, and those that you love to get one.

Three thousand died on that September day but 30,000 US citizens die every year of influenza. Do you know to wash your hands, or cough into your elbow? Have you gotten your vaccinations?

Let us make 9/11 a day of individual, and National Preparation.
What better way to commemorate those that were lost, than to make ourselves and those around us safer and resilient?

This is a new initiative, created by the New Jersey emergency physicians, encouraging education on first aid, disaster preparedness, etc. on September 11. The American College of Emergency Physicians/NJ Chapter will send a list of ideas to every physician member in the State, encouraging them to reach out to schools, EMS, churches, community groups, and conduct educational programs on this Day of Remembrance.
Industry: Education

Things to communicate through the design
1. It's important to DO SOMETHING positive to remember 9/11 - not just read the names of those we lost
2. Prepare for disaster - man made or natural - is crticial
3. Having a plan is critical

The target audience
The logo will highlight the collateral materials - being sent to the emergency physician and hospital community. But everyone who participates in the program will be permitted to use the logo - for example, if a school system works with the physician and does a program on 9/11 running drills or teaching CPR to its students, the logo could appear on a banner or in their materials.
