We are a full service municipal police department in rural northern California. One of the few ways that a police department shows originality with a fairly standardized uniform is through its shoulder patch emblem. We are looking to adopt a new shoulder patch that will give our agency a distinctive look, capturing the uniqueness of our community and department, so that the officers will wear it with pride and the community will approve of the change.

The only wording required on the design is LAKEPORT POLICE.

The community we serve, and our officers, for whom the patch should be a source of pride.

Police shoulder patches come in virtually any shape, and there is no limit on the use of color with the patch. The design must be condensed enough so that it will fit within the maximum dimension that is loosely 5" by 5". If designers search on ebay under "police shoulder patch" they will see a sampling of the shapes and styles that are out there today.

Our community is located on the shores of the largest natural lake in California. We are an agricultural area that produces grapes for wine, pears and walnuts. Our lake is also one of the best lakes for Bass fishing in the western United States. The lake sits at the base of Mt. Konocti, a distinctive local feature.

Please think outside the box, the winning design may emphasize these types of features or may be a concept that takes us completely by surprise.

Police departments rarely change their shoulder patch so this is a big decision for us and an opportunity for a designer to shape our police department history.
