What we do
Hey! We're a hostel that just opened in South Lake Tahoe. Tahoe is a beautiful relaxing place, but at the same time is very well known for it's extreme sports and outdoor lifestyle. Hostels are a budget form of traveling accommodation that generally brings younger open-minded people that don't mind bunking with someone they don't know from another country. As cozy and welcoming as we want our hostel to be, we also expect and welcome a party atmosphere (as do most hostels.) South Lake Tahoe is very seasonal...... snowboarding and skiing during the winter and hiking, rock climbing, and water sports in the lake during the summer.
Industry: Travel & Hospitality
Things to communicate through the design
1. Homey/cozy/welcoming
2. South Lake Tahoe (mountains, lake, forest)
3. Exciting/party/youthful
The target audience
Generally younger guests. We won't to appeal to all sexes, races, religions, everything. We want to particularly appeal to international travelers. This is a cheap option for accommodation and therefore budget travelers will generally be our market. You are generally given a bed in a room with other strangers, so you must be opened minded and tolerant. Also being friendly is helpful when staying at a hostel since the stmosphere is very communal (we will have a communal area with music, a kitchen, and table games).
We like these fonts, colors and style
I suppose incorporating a mountain seems somewhat obvious, but that may come off as boring if it's just simply a mountain. I'm always one for humor but that's not completely necessary..... and may be difficult and random with the name. Natural colors could be good, but also isn't completely necessary. We quirky guys and definitely would be interested in some clever/out-there concepts. All-in-all I don't want to pigeon hole someones creativity.
Our design will be used on

UPDATE: The hand-drawn look represents what we want a little more than obvious computerization. Just blues and whites come off too cold. Also, cool fonts are definitely good (#2) but we really want an awesome picture that sticks in your mind...... maybe something a little funny or clever (not just generic). Thanks!! Great work so far though!
