What we do
PieceWorx is a software company which provides software for novelists and creative writers. Our first product is a simple, yet powerful, writing environment for novelists and creative writers. In addition, we provide a regular email newsletter to support and encourage writers on their creative journey.
The company tagline (which should NOT be in the logo) is "Every great work is the sum of many simple pieces." If you can find a way to capture this notion of "pieces," that could be interesting.
Industry: Technology
Things to communicate through the design
1. Technologically savvy
2. Creative
3. Welcoming, supportive, encouraging
The target audience
Creative writers of any age, but mostly in the 20-65 year old market. Mostly US and mostly English speaking, but certainly a global market. Most are aspiring writers and some are professional writers. But they all take their writing seriously and its a big part of their lives even if it's not their profession. They want software technology they can trust so they can focus on their creativity. A majority are college educated, but even if not, are fairly intelligent. They are readers and enjoy the arts.
We like these fonts, colors and style
* First, know that I'm open to your creativity in spite of what ever else I say here.
* The font must be easy to read. One should not have to struggle to clearly read and understand the company name.
* The name is one word with the P and W emphasized.
* For some reason I image blue and black as the colors. Perhaps because they are the colors of technology and also the typical colors of pen ink, but I'm not married to that idea.
* I want to combine the stability of technology with the flourish of creativity. I can image a conservative font with a squiggle and a quill or perhaps some other kind of symbol to evoke "writing": Feather, quill, ink well, scroll, etc. But don't want something too cliche.
* I like the creative flourish of the attached image and the way the quill is drawing the squiggle, but please be creative with that concept, I'm not necessarily looking for something exactly like that image, but I like the curved lines as a way to inject the creative element into the logo.
* The other creative concept is "pieces." I don't really like the image of a puzzle piece because we are less about puzzles than about creativity. But if you can find a symbol or way to convey that sense of a whole as the sum of its parts, that could be interesting.
* If you can convey both a "writing" image with a "pieces" concept that would probably be ideal.
