What we do
We are a Heavy Metal band. We need a simple, but strong and recognizable font to use in all aspects of promotion, from t-shirts and cd-covers to huge stage backdrops. We also want a logo/"symbol" which communicates the concept of "memento mori" (a bird of carrion/crow, skull, (open to all ideas) something recognizable) which can be used independently of the name, like on the back of t-shirts, etc. Conversely incorporated in the font/logo? It all needs to look "metal" without being "cheesy" :) (i.e. nothing like Metallica or Iron Maiden or anything too Gothic :) )

The target audience
Young adults and concert-goers. Anyone with an interest in music.
We like these fonts, colors and style
It's important that the logo/font and symbolism translates into plain black and white.
Nothing too Gothic, or traditional Heavy Metal.
Pretty much open to all suggestions.

OK - we've ranked the entries so far, and shown which elements we like in various others.
What we're missing is some more ideas with greater focus on an original font, in addition to the imagery!
We had also hoped to maybe reach a design where we could maybe use just an image on the back of the t-shirt with the band name on front? i.e. separate font/image and it would still be recognizable...
#1, #2, #3 have this.
We love the originality shown in #6.
Some skulls, though very cool, can, depending on design, come across as a bit too "hard" for our music.
Other images we'd love to see incorporated would be hourglass, clocks, or anything that symbolises the passing of time.
