What we do
"Gateway to Russia" is an outsourcing company which assists businesses to enter the Russian market through a bespoke combination of training, consultancy and project management.
We want to encourage other businesses to see the potential opportunities for them in Russia, and our message is that Russia is not a scary and dangerous place to do business, it is actually a land of opportunity! With our help, customers can be very successful there.

The target audience
The target audience will be other businesses, most likely based in the UK. They will probably be medium sized companies with 100-2000 employees, and active in one of the following industries:
- recruitment
- telecommunications
- IT
We like these fonts, colors and style
I generally like simple designs, with the Apple logo being the most obvious example. I would like the design to consist of a shape and the company name (Gateway to Russia), and to have the option for either the shape or the text to appear separately in different places. So I'd like the shape part to be memorable and convey the company's message independently of the text (as much as that is possible).
Shape: Ideas which I have in mind for the shape are iconic images or symbols of Russia, so Red Square, St Basils cathedral, Russian dolls etc. This list is certainly not exhaustive and I would welcome fresh ideas from talented designers. I'd like to add that Soviet or Communist style is not suitable though as it doesn't convey the right message about business opportunities. I want the message to be about the future and not the past.
Colours: For colours, I would like the image and text to appear on a white background, and I plan to use red and grey on the website. I would welcome the use of these colours for the logo, but I am not opposed to other colours being included if they enhance it.
Slogan: the company slogan is "unlock the potential" but this should NOT be included in the logo.

Thanks for the designs so far, there are some great ideas though we'll still not quite there. I have overcomplicated things by suggesting too many concepts to be included in one little logo, so apologies for that!
To get back to the core elements that I am looking for:
- simplicity
- positive & recognisable image of Russia
- shape plus company name as text
- three colours of Russian flag (blue, red & white) looks very nice
