What we do
We are a family business and we Design & Build Custom Homes, do Kitchen/Bath/Whole-Home Remodeling, Additions, Construction Consulting, Storm Protection, Home Inspections, 3D Rendering & Drafting, Cabinetry, Flooring, Windows, Doors - everything a homeowner could need from a General Contractor -- while specializing in Energy Efficiency (Green Building) and Accessibility (for people of varying levels of mobility - i.e. wheelchair/handicapped, etc).
For a slogan, we have used:
"Building Homes for Families like Yours & Mine"
"Building Quality Custom Homes for Every Lifestyle & Budget"
"Our Family Building Your Family's Dream Home"
That's just for background - I don't think we need a slogan in the Logo -- or do we? You guys & gals know that better than me.

The target audience
AGE = Most of our clients are in their 50's & older, often retiree (or soon-to-be), looking to retire to our Florida Tropical Paradise away from the snow up North
SEX = we generally serve couples (though the women are generally the "drivers" &/or heavily influence decisions)
INCOME/Socio-Economic Background = middle/upper-middle class, both Blue & White collar
LOCATION - they come from the NorthEast & Central US, England/Western Europe
We like these fonts, colors and style
COLORS - I like Blues (like Energy Star Blue), Greens (we build Green & our chosen name - SAGE - is green), also like reds
FONTS - Needs to be LEGIBLE = easily read; that said, I prefer crisp & have seen some interesting "hand-drawn" fonts on contests here
STYLE - I draw technical - houses, cabinets, etc, but also bring creativity to my designs; surprise me, and I'll try to give as much feedback as possible to see how this develops

I'm attaching my current "Logo" which is a pair of circles with an S & H superimposed. For background, when I drew it 13 years ago, the inner circle represented the sun (or son, me) ecclipsing the outer circle, the moon (pop - who taught me everything he knew - now he works for me so it's kinda neat). It really had nothing to do with our business, more about our inner dynamic, plus I just thought it looked cool. We can play off that or start fresh.

Our State requires my license number be on anything with my name on it - so it would be good if we could somehow incorporate it into the logo (small & disguised as a linear element would work): CGC1513645
Also, if it works cleaner for your designs to do it as "Sage Homes" and say "Sage Homes, Inc" in tiny font (again as a linear element) then we'd be good with that as well.
