What we do
BRAKES TO GO is a mobile mechanic business in Austin, TX, that specializes is brake repair. We go to the customer; they do not come to us. The idea is to give the customer a way to get their brakes done while living their regular life. We will come to their home, their place of work, or any other place we are requested. We use premium parts for basic parts prices, as we have no shop mark-up. We fully disclose how we are saving this money because we want to convey honesty; our business depends entirely on word of mouth.
NOTE: I want you, the designer, to understand the finances of something that I am confident you already deal with. I'm selling a service that YOU need. I know YOU have to get brake jobs, too. And I know that YOU live in a town were national chains advertise $99 brake jobs. Let me speak the truth: THERE IS NO SUCH THING as a $99 brake job. Those marketing campaigns get you in the door, but the average customer ends up spending just under $500 EVERY TIME. Not only that, but often after the "free estimate" these companies fraudulently tell the customer that they "cannot legally" put the brakes back together due to their "unsafe" nature. All of a sudden this poor lady feels forced to pay $500 and can't even go get a second opinion. I can do the exact same brake job for under $150, no shit, and that's what I charge. But the average uneducated consumer has no reason to choose the $150 honest price over the $99 bait-&-switch, at least initially. I'd love to some how convey this. Please don't let this limit the potential of the logo though.
Industry: Automotive
Things to communicate through the design
1. Mobile
2. Brakes/Brake repair
3. Local
The target audience
(1) The target audience is broad since almost everyone drives an automobile. But typically I'm targeting the person financially-pressed, someone who needs the cheapest (actual) price possible.
(2) Also, as this is a relatively new concept, and those over 40-50 have spent their lives taking their car to a garage for repair, I think this will more likely appeal to a younger generation.
(3) Austin will be the main target area so identifying with something local in the logo would be perfect, too.
We like these fonts, colors and style
I like the color's red, black and silver, this kinda reflects the automotive world by no means is this a must though.
Logo's that have symbolism to them. I'd love to convey mobile through this and or brake repair.
I like edgy logos that are little more modern and sharp looking. Sharp lines and layers.
If you have a great idea that doesn't fall into any of these concepts please show me what I'm looking for; don't let me tell you!
Our design will be used on

I think its important to incorporate MOBILE BRAKE REPAIR as well, as obvious as I think BRAKES TO GO is, this is America and some people might not have the slightest clue.
I really like the rotor and the caliper logo's so far. That being said I'd still like see some other ideas. Maybe a mechanic with a wrench on a letter that looks he's taking off any thing of the sort. Some people won't even know what a rotor and a brake pad is, I want to incorporate more what the business is because my title already says BRAKE in it.
One last quick thing. I want a logo mark. So that if franchising is something that happens, its a logo that everyone see's and goes that's BRAKES TO GO. If you had to make a logo with no text that conveyed what the company was the best what would it be? How would it look and how would you convey that? Something you could look up at and logically it would make since what my business is. - Thanks
