Stuck Truck Brews Logo Design Contest
Name On Logo: Stuck Truck Brews
Our Slogan
Water, grain, hops and yest . . . that's it.
What we do
We brew beer hand-crafted beers with a focus on bold, natural flavors (i.e., no light beers). We're a sub-micro brewery based in the Kansas City area hoping to market to our friends, colleagues and perhaps a restaurant or two at some point in the future. This is quite obviously not our day jobs, but a fun hobby.
Industry: Miscellaneous

Things to communicate through the design
1. Quality
2. Homemade
3. (enter generic goal of every company in existence here)

The target audience
21 and up. Beers like this will likely appeal slightly more to men than women, but we have no intentions of marketing exclusively to one gender.

We like these fonts, colors and style
We're extremely open to ideas, this will be a collaborative effort and we plan to submit plenty of feedback throughout the process. Our "slogan" above was the result of 3 minutes of deliberation - I'm a lawyer and my partner's a programmer, we aren't marketing geniuses. If you can think of something catchy, something witty, all the better. The slogan does not necessarily have to be in the design at all.

The design can, but does not have, to include a truck of some sort. We definitely prefer the older styles from the 30s through to the 50s. By way of example:

The truck need not necessarily be stuck in anything, but if you can integrate it gracefully, be my guest.

We're open to the color scheme and the overall design. We threw around ideas of perhaps having the bed of the truck filled with kegs, hops, grain/barley, or other of the various ingredients but we don't want it to look hokey. Think more of a sophisticated look rather than corny (if you go to a liquor store and look at beer bottles a lot of them tend to integrate a lot of generic designs that aren't really appealing, think wine bottle for general style of design more than beer bottle).

We'll need various designs: a) One that will fit on a bottle as a label (so, although a square would work, you can get creative with the outline of the label we'll use -- something like a crest), b) a design that's either miniaturizable for a web page tab logo/social media logo or an element of the design which can be made small yet still distinctive, and c) something adaptable for web use (which likely won't have all of the design elements that the bottle label would require). This will need to be in fine enough detail that a blown up version will not be pixelated as we plan to place this on our kegs.

I'd also like black and white versions of all work in order to apply for trademark protections (these can be submitted separately by the contest winner). If you're unaware of the requirements for this, it needs to be black and white ONLY, no grayscale.

Lastly, we will ask that the winning designer sign and return an assignment of rights to all the the IP (logos/drawings) before we select the designer formally (which triggers payment). You must be willing to agree to such an assignment for us to accept your designs (we just want to own what we're paying for, nothing more).

Our design will be used on
(Web)  (Print Media)  (Billboards & Signs)  (Mugs & Tshirts)

Additional Info Added Feb 24, 2010
We think we've given up on the slogan we originally chose, it's long and awkward in most of the designs that have attempted to use it so far.

Also, please note, we'd like designers to also incorporate the location of our operations. If possible, please incorporate "Kansas City, Missouri" or "Brewed in Kansas City, Missouri" or "Craft-brewed in Kansas City, MO" Again, be creative please. Our favorite designs so far have been things we haven't thought of.
