Name On Logo: Mighty Blue Knights Skijor Racing Team
Our Slogan
Representing Fans Everywhere at the 2013 World Championships
What we do
We are a semi-professional sprint sled dog racing team in the Nordic racing class, which means that as opposed to long lines of dogs pulling a musher on a sled, my two racing dogs pull me while skate skiing (also called skijoring) or on a bicycle (also called bike-joring).
My two dogs named Quinn & Pops are from the fastest sprint sled dog team in North America and we have been selected by MushingUSA.org to represent TeamUSA in the 2013 International Federation of Sled Dog Sports World Championships being held this March in Fairbanks Alaska.
We need a captivating, exciting logo that features the team name "Mighty Blue Knights", shows the all brown Quinn and all Doberman/black colored Pops running side by side, preferably at the viewer with a looker's left to right direction, and a slogan line that could read:
1. Born in Alaska, Conditioned in Western Colorado
2. Representing Fans Everywhere in the 2013 World Championships
3. Sprint Skijor Racing Team
4. Paonia & Lake City Colorado
Snow is not completely essential to depict as we train and race on dry surfaces as well. If a designer were thinking of a castle motif to add to the scene, I have attached a picture of the backcountry tipi that I own and operate at 10,200 feet in the Rocky Mountains. This design element is not crucial.
Industry: Sports & Recreation
Things to communicate through the design
1. Two dogs sprinting side by side coming at viewer from looker's left to right
2. The power, passion and unique features of this Eurohound breed (http://www.akbritt.com/DOGMUSHING-SledDogRaces/FUR-RONDY-2011/FUR-RONDY-DAY-2/15970272_4sNkQZ#!i=1199575184&k=T4Jjq)
3. Powerful font for the team name "Mighty Blue Knights"
The target audience
We have fans of all ages and from all walks of life. Children love seeing sprint sled dogs because they are amazingly fast and powerful and yet look like hounds and are very friendly.
The seniors have grown up loving the huskies from Hollywood but are now learning that these hybrid Eurohound sprint dogs are amongst the most accomplished athletes ever bred. For example, Lance Armstrong has a VO2Max of 82ml/kg/min while sprint sled dogs have a VO2Max of 240 ml/kg/min and are expected to perform at 90% of maximum capacity for between 80-90 minutes.
The logo will be used on patches, hats, tshirts, banners, stickers and website/online marketing in order to reach as many people as possible.
We like these fonts, colors and style
1. The logo needs to feature the team name 'Mighty Blue Knights'. Here is what the team name means.
- Mighty = because my brown dog Quinn (see attachment) was undefeated in 2012 during his rookie season and earned the nickname 'Mighty Quinn'.
- Blue = Quinn & Pops were purchased from Ellis Racing Sled Dogs. World class sprint racer Egil Ellis and his line of Eurohound dogs have won the Open North American Championship 12 of the past 15 years. These are well know as the most accomplished sprint sled dogs in the past 18 years. Blue for blue royal blood and blue ribbon winning dogs.
- Knights = TeamUSA has selected Quinn & Pops to race in the 1 and 2 dog classes at the world championships in hopes that an American team can beat the Norweigans, Swiss, Fins, Germans and Swedes, who have dominated the sprint skijor sport for the past several decades.
2. The logo needs to capture the brown and black brothers running side by side. Please look at the link to Britt Coon's photography of Pop's father running at the camera in lead during the 2011 Fur Rondy World Championships.
The winning logo designer will take the time to capture the unique look of these Eurohounds (Wikipedia Eurohound and you will read about Egil Ellis and his famous stud Mike who is the great grandfather to both of my dogs -

The face, eyes, power, intensity and speed with grace is the hallmark of these dogs. They do not quit under pressure, they run with amazing power for long lengths of time, and they have a very different look than Iditarod or 8 Below movie dogs. They have big front paws and are always driving forward.
