| We like these designs. (fonts, colors, style): |
We want a logo that is simple, iconic, and memorable. It can involve color but should translate well into black and white also. Green is a color which should be incorporated but other colors could be utilized also. While we are completely open to the imaginative input of the contestants, we have thus far envisioned a middle-aged, modern day pot farmer/rancher. He’s hip, yet hard-working and productive. He may or may not have a western style hat on. The logo could incorporate a marijuana leaf somehow, but we do not see that as an essential component. The words, ‘Joe Farmer Collective’ must be incorporated into the design. We will also want the winner to produce a version which utilizes the words ‘Joe Farmer Brand’ for package labeling. |

| Our design will be used on: |
| Web, Print Media, Billboard & Sign, Television, Mugs & Tshirts |

Hi,
During the course of the contest, an idea regarding the design was raised by a member of Joe Farmer Collective; that perhaps the logo could include an image of the founder of JFC as a model for the farmer image in the logo. We have given some thought to that idea and we are interested in considering entries that are designed this way. We have not made a decision that this is what we are definitely looking for and/or are going to select, but we want to have the opportunity of considering designs that feature an image of the founder.
So, we have extended the contest for 7 more days and we are supplying the administrator with four images of the founder. The image in the actual logo should be modified as follows:
1. The image should look more like a line drawing, less like a photo
2. The image should appear approximately 15 years younger than the photos
3. The image should appear to be leaner, more angular, (take weight off of this image)
4. We like the basic style of the hat but the draw string in the photos should be removed.
5. The shirt can be altered, modified, but basically it should look like a field worker's shirt.
6. The logo image could be just a head shot or it could include more of the body, against a fence or whatever
We want to thank all of the participants for applying their efforts and creative energies to the contest.

FROM JOE FARMER:
Hi,
We just uploaded 4 new images of the founder of JFC which will be much easier to work from because they have him wearing a hat and basically the right kind of shirt. Please omit the hat's drawstring and you can modify the shirt as you see fit. The logo image should be more of a line drawing less of a photo and the farmer image should appear about 40 years old, more or less, and much leaner in face and body.

Hi,
We want to thank all of the designers for their efforts. You have produced many excellent images. While we have posted a ranking, we have not as yet had a chance to analyze and consider the entries carefully. All of the images still posted are definitely in the running, and we will have a tough time choosing a winner.

Hi,
I wanted to respond to Axl's post. The reason we ranked #138 by WellDone first today, is because we want to make a point about moving the contest in the direction of simplicity, creativity, and originality. Many of the other logos, while very good art, have too much information for a logo. #138 is not really what we're looking for in the image itself, but we do like the originality. Many other designers are using stock images. We're looking for some thing very original. What the cosmic woman is to Starbucks, what the Zig Zag man is to rolling papers, what Colonel Sanders is to fried chicken...we want our logo to be synonymous to medical marijuana. #138 isn't going to win this, but I hope all contestants read this so they can appreciate our logic.
Thank you for your interest and participation.

We appreciate the fine efforts put in by the designers thus far. We do not want to rank the images yet, because we do not want to move the contest in a particular direction at this point, and none of the images stand out for us at this time. We can offer some comments, however, which hopefully will be helpful.
1. #15 is good, but there needs to be space between the words so that it can be used in black and white reproductions.
2. #20 is a good concept, but the farmer looks like a stock image and the leaves need to be more narrow to look realistic.
3. #33 is a good concept but the farmer does not look like a Western US farmer/rancher...wrong hat style...leaf in teeth is good idea.
4. #80 is good, but leaf in distance is not realistic in shape...could even be a sunset or sunrise, which is kind of the point, but leaf should look more like the plant.
5. #81 is a decent concept but image of the farmer is wrong. Think Marlboro man, John Wayne, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, etc.
6. Some of the designs use stock farmer images with rakes and other implements. The implements in stock images probably don't translate well to a pot farmer, so implements probably should not be incorporated. |

| While we want to suggest quality, reliability, and integrity within the context of the image, we do not want to devote type to actually state these words as was done in submissions 3, 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, 20, 23, and 25. The logo will be used in situations, like product labels, where it will be reduced and the additional words will not reduce successfully. The only words on the logo should be 'Joe Farmer Collective'. We're hoping somebody will come up with a design with an image representing our mythical pot farmer/rancher for our consideration. However, we are also open to a design which does not incorporate our pot farmer. |
