What we do
We are the antithesis of pay for play volunteer tourism and monopolist NGOs who profit off of restricting the recombination of people, ideas, and resources for the betterment of all people.
Industry: Non-Profit

Things to communicate through the design
1. Freedom
2. Altruism
3. Fun

The target audience
Well, the broad category is the volunteer tourist of 1.6 million people and over a billion dollars. Everyone who searches, reads blogs and looks for edu-travel, volunteer travel etc. More specifically, the career breakers and mini retirement folks who are living a full life and looking “to do good”. The audience is also the hosts with the projects—people who need clean water…etc, but have a scarcity issue..The volunteers are likely to be 21-45, live in the USA (probably the coast), have a Bachelors degree probably a Masters or professional degree (don’t rule out everyone skilled trade, mechanic). Their opinions: NGO’s are overblown. Minimalism is good. Is my coffee fairtrade? I shop at the Co-op. I wonder how I can go someplace where I could really do something that makes a difference (Effective Altruism- kind of). I wonder how I can put my education to good use? Yeah, I’m a community activist and a volunteer. This description works, I can see it in the media. But, the downside to this description leaves a lot of people out…. Because it is classist ….
The hosts are people who want to get something done in their community, who have an idea and probably a good idea of how to execute, but they don’t have enough of the rights skills and resources in their immediate area and/or can’t afford the ones close by. They think “a big ngo would never help me”, “I wish there was something like WOOF or HelpX for my need”
