The target audience
Target audience to be peer oil and gas companies looking to buy and/or sell oil and gas properties, potential investors and other stakeholders (i.e. attorneys, future employees, business partners, etc). This logo will be used on marketing material, company website, business cards, etc.
We like these fonts, colors and style
Origination of the name Pylon Petroleum derived from the two managing partners to essentially progress the initial idea of a start up oil and gas company to formation, getting potential deals and acquisitions to close. The term pylon is a metaphor for "a football team getting across the goal line, reaching the pylon".
The logo needs to remain focused on oil and gas, not football or otherwise. When people see the logo, they need to immediately understand it's an oil and gas company, not a sports related entity.
Open to color scheme, could incorporate an endzone football pylon (see attachment) into the name in some fashion. Indifferent on color scheme, but orange makes sense. Needs to stand out, be unique and memorable.
